Viaggio San Marzano Tomatoes are a variety of plum tomatoes that are considered by many chefs to be the best paste tomatoes in the world.
Compared to the Roma tomato, San Marzano tomatoes are thinner and more pointed. The flesh is much thicker with fewer seeds, and the taste is stronger, sweeter and less acidic. Many people describe the taste as bittersweet.
Distinct in flavor, Viaggio San Marzano tomatoes are grown in the Sarnese Nocerino area of Italy, renowned for its especially fruitful soil as a result of its proximity to Mount Vesuvius. These tomatoes are certified by an independent third/party agency which guarantees the traceability and can be classified as Pomodoro San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino and have the EU “DOP” emblem on the label.
