LOMBARDY - Luganega al sugo

Sausage in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 10 oz sausage, cut into 2–3 inch pieces
  • 1 lb Viaggio Italian peeled tomatoes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Viaggio Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 5–6 minutes, until soft and lightly browned.
  2. Add the sausage pieces to the pan. Cook, stirring frequently, until they are browned on all sides.
  3. Pour in the Viaggio Italian peeled tomatoes. Use a spoon to break them up slightly. Season with salt to taste.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend and the sausage to cook through.
  5. Serve hot, ideally with crusty bread or over pasta.
